Ali & Brad’s Wedding

by Steve Holmes on January 27, 2012

When Alison and Brad sent out their wedding invitations they made sure to invite as many friends and family as they could, because in their humble minds, they expected more than a few guests wouldn’t be able to make the trip. But Ali and Brad will tell you that as it turned out, they were wrong. Everybody showed up, and it was a wonderful celebration.

I was thrilled to be able to photograph another wedding at one of my favorite local wedding venues, Cobb Hill Estate. Cobb Hill is home to some of the most vibrant and unforgettable sunsets anyone will ever see.

So on a beautiful hill with stunning views overlooking Mt. Monadnock and surrounded by their friends and family, Ali and Brad got married.

Haley’s Senior Portrait Session in Chesterfield, NH

by Steve Holmes on October 27, 2011

As a photographer, I’m always looking for the most interesting and beautiful backgrounds and places I can find, and New Hampshire is certainly a great place for beautiful locations. Unfortunately, sometimes these beautiful locations are not easy to get to. This is why I give my clients full “veto” power if they think any of my ideas are a little too crazy or adventurous.

But I’ve been lucky. Extremely lucky to have some of the most adventurous clients who appreciate my creative vision enough to go along with all of my ideas.

Take Haley, for example. When discussing potential locations for her senior portrait session, we decided on the Chesterfield Gorge, in Chesterfield, NH. The gorge has beautiful creeks and waterfalls, some of my favorite natural subjects to photographs, but it takes a very adventurous spirit to go into these places. Lucky for me, Haley was totally up for it! And it was so worth it. We had a lot of fun and were able to capture very unique portraits using the beautiful surroundings at the gorge.

Megan’s Senior Portrait Session

by Steve Holmes on October 25, 2011

I always love when a client includes a prop or something very significant as a part of his or her session. It really makes the photos that much more personal, and that much more unique. So I was excited when Megan told me she would like to include her horses in her senior portrait session.

We had so much fun. Megan brought so many ideas and I loved her rockstar attitude. It was crisp and cool late-summer morning when we met but we took advantage of the beautiful morning sunlight to capture portraits of Megan with her horses.

We ended our session at her mother’s house with gardens blooming with very pretty colorful flowers, and lovely textures to use as backgrounds.

There was beautiful morning light when I caught up with Megan.

Hannah and Alex’s Fall Wedding in Keene, NH

by Steve Holmes on October 13, 2011

Hannah looked radiant as she walked down the aisle alongside her father. She was glowing with happiness and anticipation to finally marry the love of her life, her high school sweetheart. The boy who once ordered she sweep the floors of their high school theater, unsuspecting of her feelings towards him. The boy who later asked her on a date, a first date that he planned meticulously and recreated detail by detail the day he asked her to marry him.

Hannah and Alex got married at the Monadnock Covenant Church in Keene. I could tell by the personalized tissues on the front row that it would be a heartfelt and emotional ceremony. And it was.

Their celebration continued at Hidden Hills in Rindge where candlelight and chandeliers set a romantic and elegant tone.

It was truly a special day to be a part of.

Elisabeth and Andrew’s Wedding

by Steve Holmes on September 28, 2011

I could hear the disappointment in her voice. The weather forecast for Elisabeth’s wedding day called for rain and she was getting married at the Cathedral of The Pines; a beautiful outdoor church overlooking Mt. Monadnock. I had no doubt we would capture beautiful photographs, rain or shine, but I felt for her.

By Saturday morning the forecast had changed to cloudy, and the day began with a light rain while Elisabeth and Andrew prepared for their wedding day at The Colonial Hotel in MA.

The guests arrived at the cathedral with umbrellas in hand, ready for a rainy outdoor ceremony. And this is why I’m convinced that good things happen to good people: Just as Elisabeth began her walk down the aisle alongside her father, the rain stopped and the sun peeked out from the clouds. And the rainy weather stayed away through the rest of their beautiful ceremony and celebration at the Colonial Hotel.

Couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day!

Elisabeth, you're stunning!
