Raging rivers, muddy trails, a tree house and beautiful evening skies made for an adventurous and fun engagement session with April and Eric in Burlington, Vermont. On my way to meet them, I drove through the kind of driving rainstorm that makes you turn your windshield wipers on high and slow down so you can see where the road is. Needless to say, I was little worried abut the weather for this engagement session. I was relieved the weather broke right when I arrived in Burlington.
We first headed to a small park where we walked down the trail to a small creek. Both were an adventure after the heavy rain, but we had fun laughing and making our way to and into the river. We finished the session at Red Rocks Park in Burlington by the tree house and down on the lake.
Engagement sessions are always a great chance for me to get to know a couple before their wedding, and after this session, I know the three of us will be ready for whatever adventure awaits on their wedding this July!
The trail down to the river turned into a bit of a mud luge run after the rain.
After wading the raging river, the rock in the middle of
the river was nice location for a portrait of April & Eric.
Safely back on dry land.
We next headed to a Red Rocks Park in Burlington and found a couple of great locations…
…including this fun tree house.

We had some beautiful eveing light as we finished the engagement session on Lake Champlain.

Dear Steve,
We LOVE these photos and we really enjoyed getting to know you better! You were such a great person to work with–through raging rivers, slippery slopes, and windy spots, you had a cheerful spirit and took great photos! Thank you so much for the great engagement session!
We are really looking forward to working with you at the wedding!
Thanks again,
April and Eric
Hey April & Eric,
Thanks for the great session. It was nice to finally meet you in person, and had lots of fun photographing the two of you. Less than two weeks now!

Nice job Steve! I especially like the last image – that little kiss of rim light is killer!
Thanks, Christopher. That one was my favorite. We definitely had to fight the wind to get it, but it was worth it.
