Beautiful late afternoon light, one of my favorite local venues, and lots of fun and laughter made for a wonderful engagement session with Diana and Jimmy this past weekend. They chose to have their session at Stonewall Farm in Keene, NH, and at Diana’s parents’ house across the street. Both locations had great photographic opportunities.

Fun is always part of the equation for engagement sessions, and while this was the first time I met Diana & Jimmy, we definitely had lots of fun. Here is a selection of my favorite images from the session.

What a pleasure it was to photograph Deanna & Steve during their recent engagement session in Keene, NH. They were upbeat and playful even in the face of impending weather. Deanna was my daughter’s 2nd grade teacher, and I also know her from her work with Moco Arts, so I knew we were going to have fun.

They chose to have their engagement session at the Ashuelot River Park, which is not only one of my favorite places in Keene, but it’s also where they got engaged. Here are a few highlights from the session.

Here are a few highlights from a fun engagement session with Ali and Evan in Portsmouth, NH. With all of the outdoor work I do, I’ve definitely had to dodge the rain this month, but we were fortunately blessed with good weather and light for this evening session.

We started in front of Evan’s parents house and then headed down the road to the park by the water before looping back through downtown Portsmouth. We had some beautiful spring flowers that were a nice addition to the photos. Ali and Evan were a pleasure to work with, and I’m excited about the photos we created together.

There were beautiful flowering trees in the park down by the water.

We also found a fun walkway through the trees covered in yellow flowers.

I told Evan and Ali to go stand in front of this building and “look cool”, and they pulled it off well.

“What do we do if it rains?” is a common question I get from my wedding clients. “We can make beautiful photos in any weather,” is usually my optimistic response, and this was certainly true for Kelsey and Andrew’s engagement session in downtown Keene. The rain held off briefly for photos in the center of the roundabout, but when it did start raining lightly, we  made fun use of umbrellas and the shelter we found. I love the light and saturation of colors you can get in this type of weather. This positive and fun couple made for a great rainy day engagement session.

A beautiful seaside location, amazing afternoon light and two great people made for a wonderful engagement session in Marblehead, MA. I photographed Olivia & Dan in Chandler Hovey Park, home to the Marblehead Lighthouse. The park had some great photographic opportunities including uniquely shaped trees, nice textured rock, a cobblestone beach with a beautiful color palette, and of course the charm of the lighthouse.

The three of us definitely had fun together, and photographing Olivia & Dan’s engagement session got me even more excited for their wedding this June at Stonewall Farm.

Here are a few highlights from a recent engagement session with Hannah and Alex. The location for the session was Surry Dam in Surry, NH. In addition to being one of my favorite places to hike and mountain bike, it also happens to be where Alex proposed to Hannah, so it had particular significance to Hannah and Alex.

I love doing winter engagement sessions. The low angle of the sun and the snow makes for such beautiful light. It was a little chilly, but we were able to find some sun and refuge from the wind on the dam. I really enjoyed spending time with Hannah and Alex and can’t wait for the wedding in October.

I had a wonderful time photographing Jennifer and Brandon during their engagement session in Providence, RI last week. Providence was a new location for me, and I always love having the opportunity to look for great creative possibilities in new locations. We started at Prospect Park, which although fairly small, had a beautiful view of the city and lots to work with. We then walked downtown and had fun photographing around the buildings and the water in downtown Providence.

Jennifer and Brandon were such a pleasure to work with and such a beautiful couple. Their late winter wedding will be my first of 2011, and I can’t wait!

Covered bridges, fall foliage, beautiful late afternoon light and a fun couple in love all made for a great engagement session with Alyssa & Kyle. They liked the idea of including some of their favorite New Hampshire bridges in some of their photos, and two of the covered bridges in Swanzey and the areas around them were great locations for an engagement session.

Engagement sessions are always a great chance to get to know a couple before a wedding, and I can tell we’re going to have a lot of fun together on their wedding day next September. There ceremony will be at St. Bernards church in Keene with the reception at the Courtyard Marriott.

Here are a few favorites from Danielle and Brian’s engagement session at Alyson’s Orchard in Walpole, NH. We had a beautiful October fall day and had a wonderful time exploring the many great photo opportunities at Alyson’s. Danielle and Brian will have their reception at Alyson’s Orchard later this fall, and I’m definitely looking forward to being a part of their day.

Here are a few favorites from a recent engagement session with Alison & Brad at Alyson’s Orchard in Walpole, NH. Alyson’s is such a beautiful setting, and the three of us had a great time taking advantage of the beautiful late summer evening we had. I can tell I’m going to enjoy photographing Alison & Brad on their wedding day next September at Cobb Hill Estate!
