Amanda & Page’s Wedding

by Steve Holmes on July 8, 2011

As a wedding photographer in New England, I have the opportunity to photograph in some amazing locations. When I first met with Amanda over a year ago, her vision for her New Hampshire country wedding is the type of wedding I absolutely love to photograph. The day was just as beautiful as I imagined it would be, and working with an awesome couple made it that much better.

Amanda and Page had their ceremony at the Congregational Church in Henniker, NH, a quintessential New England church and a wonderful place for a wedding. After the ceremony, we headed up to a family farm, which had so many photographic opportunities. Here are a few highlights from the day.

Moira and Paul’s Wedding

by Steve Holmes on July 7, 2011

I had the great pleasure of photographing Moira and Paul’s wedding in Keene, NH this past Saturday. They had a beautiful ceremony at the Unitarian Universalist Church followed by outdoor portraits a few blocks away in Keene. I first met Moira when I photographed her daughter in preschool, and I was so excited to have the opportunity to be a part of Moira and Paul’s wedding day.

One of the best things about my job is the great people I get to work with, and although I only spent a few hours with Moira, Paul and their friends and family, they were all wonderful people to photograph and spend time with on this happy day.

Here’s a preview of some of my favorite images from the day.

Olivia and Dan’s Wedding

by Steve Holmes on June 23, 2011

Whenever I photograph a wedding, I love to see how a couple’s wedding day can be a reflection of who they are and what is important to them. When I first met Olivia and Dan several months ago, they described many of the unique ideas they had for their wedding and how they wanted it to be as much a celebration for their friends and family as it was for themselves. Stonewall Farm is one of my favorite local venues, and the many personal touches Olivia and Dan added to their wedding day made it a truly enjoyable wedding to photograph. I got to spend the whole day with them from getting ready right up until the last dance at 1 a.m., and it was a pleasure to work with such fun loving down to earth people.

We started with getting ready photos at the Holiday Inn Express in Keene before heading over to the Farm for portraits of Olivia & Dan before the ceremony. They did something I hadn’t seen at a wedding before by having a cocktail hour before the ceremony, which was a great way to honor and spend time with their friends and family. The ceremony itself couldn’t have been more beautiful, and the reception was as fun as they said it was going to be.

Olivia an Dan, thanks so much for the opportunity to be a part of your wedding day!

Spring Family Portraits

by Steve Holmes on June 22, 2011

Living in New Hampshire, I’m lucky to have a huge variety of outdoor locations for family portraits. A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to spend time photographing a wonderful family at one of my favorite spots in Surry just down the road from the studio. We had fields full of  wildflowers, trails through the woods, and the Ashuelot River as areas to explore. The kids had fun playing outside, and we got some great photos that capture each of them individually and as a family.

Here are a few of my favorites from the session.

Happy Summer Solstice: Celebrant Headshot

by Steve Holmes on June 21, 2011

Happy Summer Solstice! This is always one of my favorite days of the year that reminds me to celebrate the beauty of life, and I thought today was an appropriate day to share a recent business headshot I did of someone who has the wonderful job title of Celebrant. Amy Benedict recently became certified as a Life Cycle Celebrant and New Hampshire Justice of the Peace and was looking for a professional headshot for her new practice Marigold Ceremonies. Amy creates personalized ceremonies to celebrate marriages and other important milestones for individuals, couples, families and communities. I look forward to the day I have the opportunity to photograph one of her events.
