Field Hockey by the Pond | Maggie

I've had the opportunity to photograph Maggie for many years dancing at MoCo Arts, so I was thrilled to have the opportunity to do her senior portraits! It was a foggy morning at Alyson's Orchard when Maggie and I began her outdoor session. The fog hung over the pond, so we got her down by the water and into the mist. Part of working outdoors means working with whatever the New England weather gives you. The fog added a unique element that made for interesting photos. Since it was August in New Hampshire, the sun soon came out and quickly dried the petals of the field of black-eyed susans that grow at the orchard every summer. The flowers' bright yellows and the field's green were popping with vibrant, dramatic colors, so we sat her down amongst them. Her smile complimented the scene beautifully. Maggie also brought along her field hockey stick. We got several shots of her displaying the sport she loves. In her studio session, Maggie wore a necklace that I loved. It was a large hammered metal ring on a linked chain with jade beads that hung low around her neck. I'll have to find out where she got it and get one for my daughter!  It paired perfectly with her black and white patterned blouse, which made completing the frame with a dark background work well. The little details mean a lot in the end results, and I appreciate when things come together like that!
